To press vinyl is to believe that someone, somewhere, still wants to own a moment. Not just access it, not just brush past it, but keep it. Return to it. Build a relationship with it over time.
It is a bet against disposability.
Against the idea that music should move through us as quickly as possible, leaving no trace.
But there is risk in that, too, for us.
Because the world does not always reward slowness. The algorithms favour momentum, frequency, constant output. They reward the artist who can remain consumable, who can feed the machine without pause. Vinyl does not move at that speed. It cannot. Pressing delays, manufacturing constraints, the simple physics of production - they all conspire to slow things down.
And maybe that’s the point.
To be vinyl-first is to accept that music might arrive later, but land deeper. That anticipation still has value. That waiting can be part of the experience, not an obstacle to it. In a culture that has collapsed the distance between wanting and having, a vinyl release reintroduces that distance, and with it, a kind of meaning.
Because when you finally drop the needle, you are not just hearing the music. You are hearing everything that led up to that moment. Not only the recording of the record, but everything else. The precision of sleeve artwork designs, the templating, the vinyl mastering. The decisions of song track inclusions to fit each side. The care in the packaging, the care in the pressing. The lacquering, the hand pouring. The melting of the pellets, the baking of the labels. The packing, the shipping, the delivering. The weeks, sometimes months, of anticipation. The knowledge that this object had to be made, physically, deliberately, by countless hands before it could reach you.
To land, like the record lands on your doorstep.
To listen, in quiet rebellion, like music matters.
Because we believe it does.
It's with this sentiment, we are proud to drop our next Limited Edition Tee, 'FIRST PRESS ENERGY'.
