MARUJA - Connla's Well - Vinyl EP

SKU: IMP253
Sale price$49.99

THIS IS A PRE-ORDER FOR MAY 1 RELEASE.

In stock

Maruja are a Manchester-based four-piece who fuse jazz, punk, post-hardcore and experimental chaos into a singular, genre-defying sound. Think post-punk meets free jazz, with lyrics, rooted in rap, that are all about the message. Add the hair-raising sonics of ruthless breakbeats, gnarly guitar loops, transcendent sax and flourishes of psychedelic bass and you have Maruja: this is force-of-nature music, born from a place of spirituality and protest, with a deep four-way friendship at its core.

Their triptych of EPs spanning between 2023 and 2025 has cemented their status as one of the UK’s most exciting new bands. They’ve been selling out increasingly larger venues, most recently Village Underground in London and Gorilla in Manchester, while also completing a world tour and performing standout festival sets at Glastonbury, Green Man and ArcTanGent.

They were selected as artists to watch for 2025 by NME, Clash, Line of Best Fit, DIY, Alt Press and Consequence, and released their incredible full debut album 'Pain To Power' on Music For Nations.

This is an exclusive pressing of this sold out EP, housed in a gatefold sleeve and pressed on white heavyweight vinyl with black splatter and our signature numbered obi strip.

Limited to 500 copies worldwide, numbered 1 to 500.

"And yet here comes Maruja, a band that has emerged – seemingly – from nowhere. The founders hail from Stockport, and all members of the four-piece are currently scattered across Greater Manchester. The internet says they’re jazz-punk, art-rock, post-hardcore, and a host of other colourful genres, but most importantly they’re something different. These lads have never had more eyes on them. Anthony Fantano recommended their debut EP Knocknarea back in May, and the four-song powerhouse is currently #1 of 2023 on Rate Your Music – a frankly insane feat. Equally insane are their live performances. They’re loud events, delivered with a frightful amount of musical proficiency you’d expect from a band late into their career, not one in its fledgling beginnings."
