Don’t Take It To Heart explores the human condition and all its beauty, flaws and all. The debut is shaped by merci, mercy’s lived experience with relationships of all kinds: platonic, romantic and the one we have with ourselves.

Working with collaborators Chris Collins, Milku and Robby De Sa throughout this process, merci, mercy presents the truest version of herself across the record – well aware that sadness and happiness are two sides of one’s same coin, Don’t Take It To Heart is unafraid to mix fun in with darker tones.

Her latest single I Bet She’s Really Nice encapsulates the feelings of jealousy that weave their way into our subconscious, sometimes even in the most stable of relationships. When it comes to merci, mercy and the memory of a partner’s ex, the fantasies of this person offer up scenarios many listeners can likely relate to; whether it be platonic or romantic.

“My partner and I have been together for four years, and for some reason I still think about his ex sometimes, and if he would ever go back to her, even though that would never happen. Ever. There is no indication that he would ever do that, but still…it’s like, “Oh I bet you still think she’s super pretty and I bet you still love her.” In fact though, it’s just all my own insecurities; that I don’t think I’m good enough. Therefore, I’m making him feel like he loves somebody else, even though he thinks I’m fantastic.” – merci, mercy
