Impressed proudly presents the Australian exclusive vinyl edition of Midas, the acclaimed sophomore album from British rock group Wunderhorse.

Echoes of early Radiohead, Nirvana, and Pixies run through their sound, but what you’ll hear is something entirely new. Wunderhorse were only formed in 2020, but there's something deeply nostalgic about their sound, which makes it an easy favourite at Impressed.

Midas has a visceral sound and energy threaded throughout, elements that have been key to the formation of the broader Wunderhorse sonic identity. 

Recorded at Pachyderm Studio in Minnesota, Wunderhorse found themselves recording their second album in the studio that created Nirvana’s In Utero and PJ Harvey’s Rid Of Me. Working with acclaimed producer Craig Silvey (The Rolling Stones, The National, Florence + The Machine), Midas is a strong follow-up to the debut album from Wunderhorse, 2022’s CUB.

Title-track and focus single Midas represents this energy with precision and finesse. A great example of the Wunderhouse dynamic and power, the pacing of the single is insatiable, as is the instrumentation and delivery.

Similarly the music video for the track, directed by Polocho in London, nails the rawness of Midas.

The rise of Wunderhorse in the UK has seen the band grow from being a personal project of Slater’s, into one of the region’s most exciting new bands. With over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and consistent support via editorial playlists including Spotify’s The Rock List, All New Rock, MARROW; as well as Apple Music’s New Music Daily playlist, Wunderhorse have been captivating a global audience.

Performances at world-renowned festivals including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Lowlands and Pukkelpop have solidified the reputation of Wunderhorse throughout Europe. Earning their stripes across tours with artists including Fontaines D.C., Sam Fender, Foals and Pixies, Wunderhorse have consistently been growing their sphere of influence.
